John Aubel Gonzales passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at age 71. He retired from the U.S. Navy. He later became a member of the Navy SeaBees.

He also retired from Jefferson County Youth Detention Center. John was a member of Dolcito Masonic Lodge #596 and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Diane Gonzales; children, Kimberly Gonzales, Robert (Donna) Gonzales, Kristy (Tracey) Williams, Gloria (Louie) Yonts, and Jeff (Laura) Cole; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Felix & Aurelia Gonzales; three sisters, Felicia, Jane, and Bonnie; and grandson, James Snow. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
