Obituary for Barbara R. Egan Barbara R. Egan, 85, of Meriden, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Masonicare Hospice after a short illness. Born in Meriden on January 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Theresa (Bucholz) Egan. She had resided in Meriden her entire life and graduated from St. Mary’s School, Academy of the Holy Family in Baltic, CT and St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Bridgeport, CT.

Ms. Egan’s career in nursing began at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. She then worked at the Westfield Manor before becoming a Nursing Supervisor at The Bradley Home for many years. After retirement she was employed by ENT Specialists in Meriden.

Barbara was also a parishioner of St. Mary Church and most recently Our Lady Queen of Angels in Meriden. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Society. Barbara dedicated her life to the nursing profession.

She had a passion for reading and enjoyed traveling with her family at home and abroad. She is survived by her beloved sister, Patricia Lobb; her nephew, John Lobb; two nieces, Ann and her husband Chet Fischer and Brenda Lobb; her cousins, Beatrice Tardiff and James Bucholz, both of Meriden, and Catherine Cobb of Peekskill, NY; five grand nieces and nephews and one great nephew. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 9:15 from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450 and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, Holy Angels Campus.

Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at the Masonicare Hospice Unit for their compassionate care.
