Obituary for Patricia A. Horozy Patricia (Misenti) Horozy, 74, wife of thirty-four years to Robert Horozy, died on November 24, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Meriden on February 20, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Serre) Misenti. She had resided in Meriden for most of her life.

Patricia graduated in 1958 from St. Rose of Lima School which provided the unconditional pillars of beliefs and character that shaped the remainder of her life. Pat was a member of the Maloney High School Class of 1962 where her artistic talent and creative nature were more than obvious to all. Pat proudly accepted the recognition and honor of best dressed from her classmates.

Upon graduation, Patricia went on to pursue and earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Class of 1966. She was immediately hired by the Acton, Massachusetts School System as a 2nd grade teacher for many years. However, Patricia returned to her roots in Connecticut by joining the Aetna Insurance Company in their Pension Department and would eventually retire after 20 years as a Senior Pension Specialist due to the progression of her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.

Pat enjoyed every aspect of artistic expression. As a free spirit she sought adventure through travel, reading, painting, music, theater or just a good conversation with a friend or stranger. But most of all she cherished the time spent with her family.

Whether it be at holiday gatherings, summers spent at their second home in Old Saybrook or at the family owned Angelo’s Snack Bar on East Main Street in Meriden. We will wonder until the end of time how Patricia astounded the medical community for years on multiple occasions her capacity to compete with medical wisdom and recover through sheer determination and faith in her creator. Pat- each of us will lament losing you in our own way.

Just as you would want it but; Patricia’s final wishes were, “You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she’d want: SMILE, OPEN YOUR EYES, LOVE AND GO ON”. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Josephine Otlowski and Lucille Durost; a sister-in-law Joanne Staszewski and her six nephews, Chris, Todd, Stanley, Scot, Peter and Michael.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the John J.
