Barbara Thornsberry Grigg , July 12, 1953 — December 13, 2018

Mrs. Barbara Thornsberry Grigg, age 65, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville following a period of declining health. A native of Fayetteville, AR, Barbara was born on July 12, 1953 to the late Henry Thornsberry and Pauline McChristian Thornsberry. She worked for previously as a bookkeeper for the Bi-Lo Grocery Store in Black Mountain.

Barbara was a sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother who gave selflessly to those she loved. She enjoyed painting but mostly loved nothing more than to be at the beach, one of her most favorite pastimes. She was deeply loved by her family and they will miss her very much.

Barbara leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Clayton Grigg; three children, Kevin Paul Grigg and wife Amber of Nebo, Kennith Clayton Grigg and wife Tracy of Strasburg, VA, and Kristin Dawn Grigg of Old Fort; a sister, Renee Taylor of Bella Vista, AR; six grandchildren, Clayton, Dare, Kylie, Emma, Hailey, and Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the HOPE Women’s Cancer Center at PO Box 16948, Asheville, NC 28816, or to the Hospice Solace Center at PO Box 5363, Asheville, NC 28813.
