Barbara E. Gilman, 90, of Cottage Grove, OR passed away on June 1, 2018 of age-related causes. She was born on February 10, 1928, in Omaha, Arkansas to John and Ruby (Null) Ware. She married Donald R. Gilman on June 8, 1946 in Reno, Nevada.

Don and their beloved son, Robert, preceded her in death. Most of Barbara’s working years were lived out on historic Main Street in Cottage Grove, from Petersen’s Department Store to owning the Mode O’Day shop, and then on to 18 years at the First National Bank. Barbara was a painter, gardener, and a superb hunter and fisherman.

She volunteered at local charity organizations. She was a member of the Elks; Prospectors & Golddiggers; and a member of the 6th & Gibbs Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Langham of Cottage Grove; daughter-in-law, Judy Gilman of Albany, OR; brother and sister-in-law, Jerol and Magdalena Ware of Lorane, OR; sister, Wanda Bennett of Spokane, WA; sister, Helen Ware of Portland; and sister, Joan Vedder of Alaska; five grandchildren: Shelley Myers, Sonia Pietras, Kelly Rhodes, Sam Gilman, and Vince Langham; 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A Memorial service and Reception will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 14, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
