Barbara Lee Anlauf of Cottage Grove, OR died on June 30, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born in Tacoma, WA on March 14, 1927, to parents George H. and Florence Folsom (Slattery) Lercher. She was the baby of the family and had three sisters and no brothers.

She recalled her childhood as being a happy one. Her uncle raised Doberman Pinchers and her family owned 8 of them! She took tap dance lessons as a child, and performed for the local school carnivals.

When she finished high school she attended the University of Washington. She then went on to work as a sales clerk at Fredrick’s & Nelson store, and also worked for 10 years as a shipping clerk for Totem Maritime Alaska Shipping. She loved to dance, and met her husband, Clay Anlauf, at a dance at the Norse Lander in Seattle.

They had a wonderful time even though he didn’t dance, and they fell in love and were married in August of 1969. Barb also loved gardening, singing, and telling stories. Mostly she loved her family (which included pets), especially her grandkids of whom she was “very proud”.

She is survived by niece, Cheri Schultz (husband Richard) of Granite Falls, WA; nephew, David Crumbo (wife Sharon) of Anacortes, WA; stepson, Mike Anlauf (wife Sandi) of Cottage Grove; stepson, Mark Anlauf (wife Morriann) of Mulkiteo, WA; stepdaughter, Karen Koch (husband Jim) of Cottage Grove; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay; and her 3 sisters, Maxine Crumbo, Francis Morganthaler, and Deloris Lercher. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, OR.
