Beatrice’s Obituary GANSEVOORT — Beatrice Leona Harwood, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5 with her loving family by her side. Born on June 28, 1928 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Beatrice (Nethaway) Markes.

On Dec. 7, 1947, Beatrice married the love of her life, LeRoy Leon Harwood, in the Town of Florida, in Amsterdam, N.Y. For many years, she worked at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. In her spare time, she enjoyed going camping with her husband, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Abraham, Shirley Riano, Margaret Knuth, and Elaine Mirabito; and her brothers, David and Philip Markes. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, LeRoy; her children, Glenn Harwood, Clifford (Carol) Harwood, Marcia (Roy) Hazzard, Carlene Harwood, Chuck (Julie) Harwood, Arnold Harwood, and Sherry (Nelson) Forbes; her 12 grandchildren; her 26 great-grandchildren; her 3 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Eugene Markes; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan.

11 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Yancy, pastor of Faith Bible Baptist Church, officiating.
