Obituary for Beatrice Sylvia-May Foucher Beatrice Sylvia-Mae Foucher, age 95, a resident of Macomb Township, died Monday, September 3, 2018 at Shelby Crossing Health Campus in Shelby Township. She was born on April 29, 1923 in Detroit to parents Herman and Ethel Barkle. She married Raymond M. Foucher, a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran, on April 20, 1945.
She is survived by her four children (and their respective spouses), Dane (Bonnie) Foucher of Shelby Township, Keith (Denise) Foucher of Macomb Township, Robin (Michael) Bosma of Livermore, CA. , Pamela (Ken) Webb of New River, AZ, and sister in law Marcelle Crafton of Warren, as well as 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Beatrice was one of the many “Rosie the Riveters” of World War II, working as a parts inspector at the Briggs Manufacturing Plant on Mack Avenue in Detroit.
The parts she inspected were used on the same B-24 Bombers that her fiancé, Raymond, flew in the Pacific theater. Raymond and Beatrice were married at Langley Field Army Air Force Base in Virginia, before he was to travel overseas in service of our country. After her new husband shipped out, Beatrice returned to Detroit to fulfill her duties to her country until the end of the war.
Throughout their lives, Beatrice and Raymond Foucher supported each other in every way, and together they helped teach everyone around them what true love was. Beatrice was truly a beautiful and loving woman who cared very deeply for her family. She was gentle, kind, and graceful in her ability to show love, doing so unconditionally.
Beatrice taught us how to live generously, with unwavering confidence and a genuine connection to our hearts. She modeled how to stand up for what we believe in, and how to do it with integrity. She lived with intuition and devotion rather than impulse.
She was full of love and care, a fiercely compassionate woman. One of her favorite lessons was showing others by example the importance of treating others with respect and kindness. She would say to us: “Use your magic words” (please and thank you), letting us know that being kind to those around us was paramount.
She believed that it costs you nothing to be kind, and it might mean the world to someone else. Beatrice leaves behind a wonderful legacy of kindness in each and every one of her family members. She taught us to support our families, to treat the people in our lives with kindness and equality, and to improve our community.
She taught us to care about those around us, and to do so in an active way. Beatrice Foucher made the world a better place. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at 6:00PM Sunday September 9 at Wm.
