Bernice Christensen Stromberg January 12, 1927 ~ January 31, 2019 Bernice Christensen Stromberg, 92, passed away January 31, 2019, surrounded by her family. Mom was born on January 12, 1927 in Kanab, Utah, to Heber Dairrel and Ella Leora Nelson Christensen. She truly loved and took such good care of her eternal companion, Carl William Stromberg, especially through his last years.

They were married August 29, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. Because of the Depression, Mom lived in many places through her young life but moved to Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School. She then worked at the Ogden Arsenal.

She was such an amazing ‘Mom’ and homemaker to six children and then they took in several teenagers at different times that needed a home. She loved home and family especially the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and especially loved spending time at their Bear Lake cabin and their Indian Wells Condo.

Mom had a strong and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ and was an example of a true disciple. She served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but the Young Women were dear to her heart. She served them until she was in her late seventies and then continued to follow their progress.

She served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City and then was an Ogden Temple worker. Mom loved the community especially Weber State University and the special people she met there. She bled purple!

She loved volunteering at McKay Dee Hospital working with the newborn babies. She also served on the South High Alumni Scholarship Board. Mom is survived by her six children, Christine (Travis) Crowther, Richard (Pamela) Stromberg, Louise (Michael) Salmond, Connie (Stan) Sims, Douglas (Maren) Stromberg, and Curtis (Annette) Stromberg, 26 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, Arlene Pennock, her “extra” children, Debbie Merrill and Michael O’Connor. Thank you Mom for our “Wonderful” life, your testimony, example, love, and strength. We will miss you!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family wants to especially thank Legacy House of Ogden, Beehive Homes of Syracuse and Brighton Hospice for their compassionate and loving care. Thank you Alice!
