Robert “Bob” Layton in quiet dignity, conquered his cancer battle submitting to his eternal destiny March 26, 2019. Born September 13, 1932, in Clearfield, Utah, the second son to Delbert Edwin Layton and Annabelle Bodily. In time the family of 10 siblings, would approve him, and brother Ray, as their team leaders.

Layton, Utah became his lifetime residence. He honored his surname “Layton” fully committed to family and community service; a hard worker but never too busy to help somebody out. Responsible, but never too serious to share a laugh.

He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, consistently dedicated to service. Blessed with the divine gift of charisma, he had the magnetism of winning devotion and drawing others to him. He was in the first class to graduate from Kaysville, Davis High School.

He started working at HAFB while a senior in high school and later served 2 years with the US Army in Korea. He married Kathryn Galiz; together they had a daughter, Pamela. Divorced, he then married Caroline Columbus and out of this union, a son Paige.

Robert met his eternal companion Mary Lin Abbott Mills while working at HAFB. They married in the Ogden LDS Temple, May 31, 1977. After over 41 years service as an Air Force employee, he retired in 1993.

Nearly seven years later, he accepted contractor employment doing Data Development work at HAFB with Logicon, merged with TRW, later Northrop Grumman. He retired again in 2005. An experienced “jack-of-all-trades-master-of-many,” he plunged into neighborhood servitude as gardener and “fix-it” man.

He shared his love of fishing, camping, and the great outdoors, with his many family members, and friends. “Bob” is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Lin, and daughter, Pamela Mark (Joe), son, Paige Layton Benjamin (Dulce), stepdaughters; Milly Larson (Mark); Laura (Mills) Brewer (Kevin); 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren plus extras. Three brothers, their wives, and many family relatives.
