Victor Dean Castlemain November 11, 1930 ~ March 23, 2019 Victor Dean Castlemain, 88, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019. He was born on November 11, 1930 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Harry Cecil and Alice Alvera Hegstrom Castlemain. He was a graduate of Ogden High School in 1949, and enjoyed maintaining a close relationship with his classmates through organizing and attending class reunions.

He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Afton Kunz, on September 1, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had four children: Brian, Brent, Lynette, and Nadine. He was devoted to family; countless wonderful days were spent on the lake, at the ball park, working on projects, and playing together.

Even with time and distance constraints, he was intimately involved in the lives and activities of his sixteen grandchildren. Foremost among the many lessons taught by his parents was the importance of an honest day’s work, a lesson that he instilled in his own family. He worked as an auto-mechanic in his early adult years.

For the next 47 years, until retirement at the age of 87, he worked as a sales manager for Whitehead Wholesale Electric. He always enjoyed the people with whom he worked and was appreciative of his employment there. He loved this Country and served in the Army Reserve for 23 years.

He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings therein. He was always looking for ways to help people. Mechanically inclined, there were very few repairs around the home or with cars that could not be accomplished by him.

He had a love for music, and was in awe of the powerful and elevating effect of scripture conveyed by beautiful music. He was an eternal optimist; even in his final days, he was reaching out to friends and family and making plans and preparations for the future. He was a man of great energy, and this energy and devotion was inspiring to those with whom he worked and served.

Victor is survived by his loving wife, Afton K. Castlemain of Ogden; children, Brian (Theresa) Castlemain of Albuquerque, NM, O. Brent (Deborah) Castlemain of Ft. Worth, TX, and Lynette (LaMar) Hill of Gilbert, AZ; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nadine Castlemain Jellema; sister, Dolly Joyce Crossley; and brother, John “Jack” R. Castlemain.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
