Bertha L Carroll, 81, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018. She was born April 4, 1937 in Silver Springs, Maryland to the late Horace Wesley Long, Sr. and Catherine Sherman Long. Bertha was a very loving mother of seven children.

She worked at A & P Grocery as a cashier for many years until she was in a horrific car accident and had to stay at home for a short period of time. After her recovery, she basically stayed home to be a housewife until her children were old enough and then went back to work with Starvin Marvin as a cashier until her health declined. Funeral service 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 17, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, 27545.

Burial will follow at Spring Branch Baptist Church, 2391 N. Spring Branch Rd. , Dunn, NC 28334. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Surviving: sons: Danny Willis (Kathy) of Benson, Gary Willis (Wendy) of Coats, John Carroll, Jr. of Wilson; daughters: Donna McLaird of Wendell; Terry King (Mike) of Wake Forest; daughter-in-law, Gina Willis of Raleigh; adopted son, Russell Tyner (Gina); brothers: Harry Long of Florida. , Leonard Long of California; sisters: Loretta Long of Maryland, Lois Willis of California; Catherine Ellis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Carroll, Sr.; sons: Larry T. Willis and John Wayne Willis; brothers: Charles Long, Horace Long, Jr.; sister, Ruth Long.

The family would like to thank Zebulon Rehab for the kind and loving care given to Bertha over the last three years.
