Ellen Louise Christiansen Taylor, 89, peacefully departed this earthly existence, Sunday, December 9, 2018. She succumbed to complications following a fall that fractured her left hip. Ellen was born January 1, 1929 in Two Harbors, Minnesota, a daughter of Lt.

Cdr. Christie Thomas Christiansen and Ellen Oldz Danielson Christiansen. Ellen for 67 years was the beloved wife and companion of Robert T. Taylor III.

He survives her along with a son, Robert T. Taylor IV and wife, Jennifer Taylor; a daughter, Laura Ellen Taylor both of Raleigh. Ellen is also survived by a brother, Thomas Edward Christiansen and his wife, Joann of Virginia Beach, VA; and two sisters: Alma O’ Shields of Buffalo, SC and Rachel Cartwright of Chesapeake, VA. ; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Christie Allen Christiansen of Virginia Beach, VA. Ellen in 1947 graduated from Maury High School, Norfolk, VA and later a local business college. She was a secretary for many years with the Agriculture Extension Service at North Carolina State University.

Beginning in the 1970’s Ellen’s abiding interest in her Norwegian and Swedish heritage found common ground in Scandinavian folk dancing organizations. She pursued many of those interest until recently. Ellen was an excellent bridge player and belonged to several long lived groups of players.

On Saturday, January 12, 2019 a memorial service will be held at the L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Rd. , Knightdale, NC 27545. There will be a preliminary gathering at 2:00 pm.

The Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871. Condolences to the family may be left with poolefuneral.com under Obituaries.
