Helen “Jeanette” Salmon Byrd, 76, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was born September 14, 1942 to the late Marshall Salmon and Helen Benson Salmon. She retired after 30 years of service with ITT as a secretary.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her family was her life.

A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, 27603. Surviving: daughter, Janet Byrd Yates of Raleigh; son, Merle Todd Byrd Knightdale; grandchildren: Randi, Brooke, Reagan, Kylie; great-granddaughters: Desiree Jade, Haylee Jenette; brother, David Salmon and wife, Nancy of Knightdale; sisters: Edith Tyndall and husband, Mike of Garner, Kay Jernigan of Knightdale, Sylvia Johnson of Wake Forest; and best friend, Joan Marie. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband George Merle Byrd on May 31, 2002.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Jan Yates, 206 Gower Circle, Knightdale, NC 27545.
