Betsy’s Obituary Betsy Dickerson Riggs, age 91, of Lexington passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III officiating.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Riggs was born in Davidson County on February 26, 1927 to Jack Dickerson and Inez Michael Dickerson.

She was a retired social worker, having worked for the Davidson County Department of Social Services and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Riggs was a graduate of the University of South Carolina from where she obtained a BA in arts and sociology. She was also a member of the Lexington Women’s Club and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Riggs, Sr. Surviving are her two sons, Thomas H. Riggs, Jr. of the home; and Jack C. Riggs (Debra) of Decatur, GA; four grandchildren, Madison Riggs, Chris Riggs, Charles Riggs, and Christina Riggs; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb Daniels, Alyssa Riggs, and Jovi Riggs. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 436, Lexington, NC 27293.
