Betty Ann (Chase) Robinson was born March 14, 1950 in Winslow, Arizona to John Billy Chase, Sr. and Stella Chase. She was the second of eight children. Betty’s passion for learning and teaching started early in her life.

She graduated from Intermountain High School in Brigham City, Utah, as salutatorian of her class in 1969 and received a college scholarship. She graduated from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 1976, with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. Betty began working toward completing her master’s degree in education, along with starting her career and family.

While studying at Utah State University, she worked as a student advisor for Native American and minority students. She was employed at Utah State University for 15 years. She spent the majority of her educational career in the Granite School District as a teacher at Arcadia Elementary School in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she taught for 30 years.

In November 2007, she was honored with a Teacher Feature Award by KSL News Radio and Zions Bank. While at Utah State University, Betty met a fellow student, Julian Robinson. They married on April 1, 1971 and had two children, Clifford and Catherine.

Betty maintained her relationship with her Native American family and heritage. Every summer, she traveled with her children to the “rez” to reconnect and serve where there was a need. She led an annual donation drive to ensure elders on the reservation could attend the El-Nathan Navajo Family Summer Bible Camp.

In earlier years, Betty was very active at New Pilgrim Baptist Church (now called The Point Church). She taught Sunday School and coordinated cleaning the church every weekend before the Sunday service. Betty bravely departed this life Friday, August 17, 2018 at her home in West Valley City, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Billy Chase, Sr. and two brothers, John Billy Chase, Jr., and Timothy Chase. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Stella Chase; her husband, Julian Robinson; her two children: Clifford Robinson, Sr. (Billie Joel), and Catherine (Rafael); four grandchildren, Kayson Jones, Zhonny Robinson, Hank Arron Robinson, and Clifford Robinson Jr.; one goddaughter, Auburn Thayer; four sisters, Vida Brown, Maurietta Chase, Shirley Chase, and Mary Chase; one brother, Michael Chase and a loving host of other relatives and friends.
