A man who loved God, Country and family; Ret. Air Force Major Paul Frank Corbett passed away peacefully at his home on September 7th 2018. Paul was born June 16th 1934 to Frank C. and Helen Nichols Corbett in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Reinje Corbett. After graduating from East High School, Paul attended the University of Utah on a baseball scholarship. He was quite the ball player from the time he was young.
In his youth, he shagged balls at Derks Field. After graduating, he received his commission as an officer in the US Air Force. He trained in Biloxi, Mississippi as an Electronics Warfare Officer, and served his country in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
He then continued his career as a navigator in the Utah Air National Guard. He was also an importer of fine clothes and a businessman. Paul was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Salt Lake and loved singing in the Prophet Elias Choir.
He served in many capacities for his church community. He also served as a director for the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International in the seventies and eighties, later forming the International Fellowship of Christian Businessmen over which he presided until August 2018. He faithfully conducted his Friday businessman’s luncheon for 40 years.
Paul had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He remembered family history, was warm and welcoming, and he always gave 150% to whatever he did. He was loved by many and will be missed by all in the Greek community.
Paul truly loved people and wanted everyone to be saved through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He always put the well-being of others before himself. His friends constantly called on him for a prayer or a word of encouragement.
His deep love for his fellow man fueled his passion — sharing Christ with anyone and everyone. It is not an exaggeration to say that he shared Christ with thousands of people one-on-one. He shared Christ with everyone he met, every day of his life for the last 40 years.
He was a legend and an inspiration to all who knew him. His brothers and sisters in the Lord will deeply miss his boldness, his faithfulness and his encouragement. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Mark Paul Corbett, and is now celebrating his reunion with Mark.
Paul has one brother, Dean Frank Corbett (Helen M. Corbett) Salt Lake City, Utah. 4 step-children, 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins in both the United States and Greece. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Prophet Elias Church, 5335 S Highland Dr, Holladay, UT.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 1 p.m. also at Prophet Elias Church.
