Betty J. LeLaidier entered into eternal rest at her home on Monday, April 23, 2018, surrounded by her children, her grandchildren, surviving siblings and nieces. She was born on May 10, 1932 in Warren, Ohio the daughter of Jesse and Lila Sines Merwin, one of their ten children. Betty married Maurice A. “Buster” LeLaidier on November 9, 1951.

They shared 53 years together until his passing on September 30, 2004. She was a homemaker who prided herself in caring for her family and her home. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren.

Her house sparkled and she was a wonderful cook. Betty was famous for her peanut butter fudge. She was of the Christian faith and often remembered the generosity of the Salvation Army in assisting her large family when she was young.

Memories of Betty will be carried on by her children, Francine Spencer of Pauley’s Island, South Carolina, Darlene (Bill) Skillman of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Michele (Robert) Krisher of Lordstown, Yvette Hughes of Warren, Yvonne (Wayne) Phillips of Cave Creek, Arizona and Maurice “Jr”. (Linda) LeLaidier of North Port, Florida; her adored 27 grandchildren; her 14 great grandchildren; her two great-great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Muffy. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded by her daughter, Marianne Kidd; her siblings, Harry, Warren and Leland Merwin, Virginia Sines and Ila Boyd and her sons-in-law, Dan Spencer, Doug Kidd and Jack Hughes.

As per Betty’s request, cremation has taken place. Any monetary donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Betty’s name. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Badi Altawil and to the Hospice of the Valley staff.
