Betty Lois Williamson April 17, 1951 – January 26, 2019 Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences Mrs. Betty Lois (Hayhurst, Asbury) Williamson, born on April 17, 1951 in Oark, Arkansas, to the late Lois Maude (Akers) Hayhurst and the late James Murphy Hayhurst, passed away on January 26, 2019 in her Alamogordo home surrounded by loving family and her constant four-legged companion, Oliver. Betty is survived by her infinitely devoted husband Grady Williamson; daughter Jennifer DeRoy, husband, Mark; daughter Sheryll Tummon, husband Andrew; son James Asbury, wife Lian; step-son Jerry; step-daughters Amanda and Megan; brothers Alva Ray Hayhurst, wife Carie; and William Murphy Hayhurst, wife Linda; nieces Minnie and Tammy; nephews Shelly and Edward; grandchildren, Ashley, Jesse, Bethany, Jordan, Autumn, Riley and Hailey and seven great-grandchildren. Her sister, Janet Gale Hayhurst, preceded her in death.

Betty enjoyed working in the electronics department at Walmart, making many good friends who became family over the years. Betty was a strong tenacious woman who was in constant motion. She loved working with her hands, building, creating, and crafting.

Betty loved to be outdoors whether it was gardening, camping, four wheeling or simply taking a walk observing the beauty of nature. All plants flourished under her care. Woodworking was a lifelong passion; she loved the smell of lumber.

She made furniture, built fences and decks. She made useful wood household items and beautiful wood art pieces. She loved to travel, trips to England, New York, the beaches of Mexico, Jamaica and Galveston were some of her most memorable.

A recent trip that included a balloon ride over Mt Rushmore was easily her favorite. The family wishes to thank all of those who have cared for her in the past months, giving all of them their greatest and warmest gratitude. There will be no visitation or viewing.

A private family service will be held per her request. In lieu of flowers for the family, contributions to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (mmrf), or the American Cancer Society can be made. Donations can be made through their websites.

The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O’Dell Funeral Home.
