Betty Jean Hale Buskirk Eichhorn, 74, of Vienna, West Virginia passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 13, 2019. She was born October 15, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV, daughter of the late Joseph A. and Anna E. Sams Hale. Betty graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1962.

She was a medical transcriptionist most of her adult life working at Rosemar Medical Group for many years and Parkersburg Cardiology Associates from which she retired. Betty loved politics (most of the time), Christmas and snow. She loved decorating for every single holiday.

And she loved cheering on the Parkersburg Big Reds and the West Virginia Mountaineers (most of the time). After entering the Pearly Gates and the warm embrace of Jesus Christ her Savior, her first stop was the Rainbow Bridge. There she would find her bird, Toby, and her beloved dogs, Gretchen and Pierre.

Next, she walked the streets of gold and greeted family and friends. She enjoyed a country music and gospel concert. And we know she is making all those around her laugh just by laughing.

Betty is survived by her two children, Chad (Kristen) Buskirk, Gina (Philip) Giffen, all of Vienna, WV, step-grandchildren Addison, Colbin, Maverick, Ashley, Alexandria and grand-dogs Ozzy and Annie. In addition to her parents, Betty was proceeded in death by her sister Jo Ann Hale. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nik Shah and staff, Dr. Robert Heavner and staff, the nurses of Housecalls Home Health and especially Housecalls Hospice, as well as Brenda Walker and Cindy Winans who helped care for Betty in her final days.

The service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Jonathan Lands officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 on Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

The family request no food be brought to the home or funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of Parkersburg.
