Betty L. Bays (nee Miller), 95, passed away at home in Belpre, Ohio on February 24, 2019. She was born on June 7, 1923 in Griffithsville, West Virginia to Walter and Lillie Miller. Betty was the oldest child followed by her siblings, Anna Marie Bias and Delbert Miller.

Betty graduated from Duval High School in Griffithsville, in 1941. After graduation she attended Eleanor Roosevelt Vocational School in South Charleston, WV to train as a machinist. She was then employed by Glen L. Martin Company, Baltimore, MD, assembling B-26 Maurader aircraft in support of the American war effort.

Following the war, she married Benny L. Bays in 1946 and began raising their family with the birth of Robert (Bob) L. Bays in 1951 and C. Brad Bays following in 1956. They settled in Belpre in 1963. Her house was always open to any friends of her sons, making sure their visitors were well fed.

The small size of her kitchen did not correlate to the generous volume of food she produced! Once the boys were off to college, Betty worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer from 1976 until she retired in 1988. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband, Benny, who passed away in 1978.

She is survived by sons Bob Bays, and his wife Paula F. Wiles, and Brad (Rebecca) Bays: grandsons: Ben (Kyla) Bays and Bryant (Elizabeth) Bays; and grandchildren: Aaron, Emma Jo, Ethan, and John Bays. Funeral arrangements provided by Leavitt Funeral Home of Belpre, 801 Victor Street. Visitation will be on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

There will be a graveside service family on Saturday, March 2, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkersburg YMCA, 1815 30th Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.
