Phillip L. Cross Phillip Lawrence Cross, 83 of Washington, passed away February 17, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg. He was born March 14, 1935 in Erie, PA, a son of the late Reid M. Cross Sr. and Bessie (Smith) Cross. Phillip was a retired mechanic from DuPont with over 34 years of service.

He was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg since 1955 where he was on the church council and he held many other offices. He was the head drum major for the 1953 PHS Band and was active with the Boy Scout Troop 117. He was also a U. S. Air Force veteran.

Mr. Cross was a member of the Masonic Lodge #3 since 1968 and 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Nemesis Shrine where he served as a “RoadRunner” driving children and their families to the Shriner’s Hospital. Surviving is his daughter Lisa Forshey (Kent) of Marietta, OH, son Ron Cross (Bonnie) of Washington, four grandchildren: Cory, Cameron Kyle (Staci) and Karah and best friend and neighbor John Crum of Washington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Flanigan, brother Reid Cross Jr, sister Margaret Godfrey and infant son Phillip L. Cross Jr. Funeral services will be Thursday 11AM at the First Lutheran Church with Reverend Ian Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church 1701 19th St. Parkersburg, WV 26101 or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital 3229 Burnet Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45229. The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis and Housecalls-Hospice for the great care given to Mr. Cross.
