Amanda Joy Cain, 40, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb 17, 2019 after a short illness at her home. She was born Nov 27, 1978 in Parkersburg to Larry and Brenda Sims Townsend, also of Parkersburg. Amanda was a 1997 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a 2006 graduate of the Washington County Career Center, where she became a certified medical assistant.

She was most recently employed at Lincare and previously at Dr. Humphrey’s office. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband and best friend of 20 years, Matthew Ryan Cain; three beautiful daughters, Avery, Makenzie and Sydney; two brothers, Jason (Chrissy) Townsend of Walker and Matthew Townsend of Parkersburg; maternal grandmother Imogene Sims, of Parkersburg; mother-in-law Penny (Gravie) Givens of Williamstown, sister-in-law Stephanie (Todd) Frye of Vienna; 2 nieces; 2 nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She will also be forever remembered by her closest friend since childhood, Shannon Starkey Emrick.

The two were like sisters and enjoyed trips to the mountains, snow tubing, days by the pool and Mountaineer sports. Amanda loved all animals, especially horses. She cherished days at the beach with the sun on her back and the sand between her toes.

She was a devoted friend and wife and a loving mother. She was always up for a day with her family at the lake, the zoo, the pool, the kids sporting events or up on Robert’s Ridge. Funeral services will be Monday 11AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Casey Dawson officiating.

Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5PM and one hour prior to services. Memorial donations may be made to the Beneficiary Account for Amanda’s Daughters, under Matthew Cain, at the West Virginia Central Credit Union.
