Beverly Lina Burkhart Ogilvie March 23, 1927 – May 04, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Beverly Lina Burkhart Ogilvie, 92, of Charlottesville, Va. died on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 23, 1927.

She was the daughter of the late William Sherman Burkhart, Jr. and Lina Hyatt Aughtry Burkhart. Mrs. Ogilvie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, James William Ogilvie, Jr. and her brother, William Ernest Burkhart. She grew up in Coral Gables, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio.

She graduated with highest distinction from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 1949. She did graduate work in psychology at the University of Miami, John Hopkins University and the University of Virginia. Mrs. Ogilvie was employed as psychiatric social worker for the Orange County Child Guidance Center in Orlando, Florida and later as senior psychologist for the Baltimore City Schools.

In 1976, she took a position with the Albemarle County Schools, first as a psychologist and then as the Supervisor of Student Services. She received the Outreach Counseling Service’s Award for Outstanding Service to Youth and Their Families in 1986. She retired from the Albemarle County Schools in 1988.

She was a member of Virginia Psychological Association and a founding member of the Maryland Psychological Association. Also, she was a member of the University of Virginia Women’s Club, League of Women Voters and Chi Omega Sorority. She is survived by her much beloved three children and their spouses: son, James William Ogilvie, III and Janet Louise Ottmann of Irvington, N.Y.; daughter, Lina Hyatt Ogilvie Long and Robert Rhodes Long, Jr. of Richmond; and son, Robert Burkhart Ogilvie and Dana Kay Eaton Ogilvie of Afton; and seven beloved grandchildren: William Chi Ogilvie, Jayson James Ogilvie, Hunter Rhodes Long, Erin Lina Long, Zoe Eaton Ogilvie, Ethan Burkhart Ogilvie and Sophia Elizabeth Ogilvie.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Death with Dignity at www. deathwithdignity.org.
