Billy J. Conway, Sr. October 12, 1939 – January 2, 2019 SPARTA – Billy J. Conway, Sr., 79, of Sparta, passed away at Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville, Illinois, at 11:40 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Billy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 12, 1939, the son of Jesse and Oma Allison Conway. He was a Retired Heavy Equipment Operator.

Billy was formerly a member of Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church, Sparta. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #520 of Granite City, IL. Billy is survived by his children, Billy J. Conway, Jr. of Ava, Carl Conway of Salem, MO, Carol Jean Hyatt of Cherry Log, GA, Tracy Cook of Taylorville, IL, Connie Leslie of Auburndale, FL and Christine Johnson of Jacksonville, IL; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Bob Conway of Baytown, TX; and sister, Juanita Markel of Sparta.

Born: October 12, 1939 Place of Birth: St. Louis, MO Death: January 2, 2019 Place of Death: Nashville, IL Occupation: Retired Heavy Equipment Operator Billy was preceded in death by his Parents; one child Allen Conway; brothers, James Conway and Jesse Conway, Jr.; and sisters, Eula Mae Grogan, Betty Conway, and Stella Smith. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, with Rev. Tom Foster officiating.

Burial will follow at Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call form 5 pm until 8 pm Saturday and on Sunday from 7:30 am until 1 pm. Memorials may be given to the Family.
