Jacksonville – Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Huddleston, 77, will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Asberry Baptist Church (3682 Roy Webb Road, Piedmont). The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of service. Reverend William Cain will be officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville. Bonnie passed away on Monday, December 17th, 2018, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Huddleston; her parents, John and Odessa Jones; and her brother, Perry Jones.

She leaves behind her children, Cheryl Bragg and her husband Coy, Jennie Breeding and her husband J.R., and Karen Smedley and her husband Jeff; she was Nonnie to her grandchildren, Rebecca Smedley, Christiane Smedley (C.J. Bauckham), Lindsey Carlson (Michael), Danielle Bird (Brad), Allison Forte (Stephen), Miranda Lovell (Marty), and Cory Bragg (Megan). She became the beloved Nonnie to her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Elise, Ethan, Bonnie Grace, Abigail, Lucy, Lexie, EmmaLee, Mason, Mackenzie, Harper and Lane: all of whom adored her. Bonnie was a loving and supportive sister to her siblings, Ruth Clark (Lonnie), J.W. Jones (Evelyn), Perry Jones (Margaret), Mattie Mathis (Robert), M.C. Jones (Sharron), Linda Thrash (Bobby), Myra Jones, Randy Jones (Jane), Sharon Law, and Mary Amerson.

She also leaves behind her many beloved nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Jerrie and Orval Motes; her church family; and so many other close friends she made during her lifetime. Bonnie was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and Jacksonville State University. She and Dewey worked together as owners of Alexandria Hardware and Diamond H Leather for many years.

Bonnie spent her retirement years volunteering for her church, forming Young-at-Heart Senior Citizen ministry, and served in many other capacities. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, music, traveling, and spending time with her family. Pallbearers will be Michael Carlson, Marty Lovell, Brad Bird, Cory Bragg, Stephen Forte, and C.J. Bauckham.

The family wishes to express appreciation to the many friends and family who prayed, visited, and cared for Bonnie and her family during her illness.
