Ohatchee – A Celebration of Life for Mr. James Ray Shell, Sr., 75, will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Sam Legon and Rev.

Adam Morales will be officiating. Burial will follow the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.

Ray passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his wife and daughters. A native of Anniston, Alabama, Ray attended Jacksonville State University and graduated with a degree in Accounting. In 1973, he began his accounting career.

Ray honorably served four years in the US Air Force and was a church deacon for many years. He loved to play softball and basketball, he enjoyed bowling, and his greatest passion was playing golf. Ray also loved watching Alabama football.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gwen Shell; his daughters, Marla (Adam) Morales; Colie (Al) Argo, and Janna (Richard) Phelps; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Sue Shadrick. Ray is preceded in death by his son, James Ray Shell, Jr.; one granddaughter, Alli Nicole Phelps; and his parents, Howard and Ruby Shell.
