Brent Lee Houtz , October 23, 1962 — September 08, 2018

Brent Lee Houtz, 55, of Pleasant Grove, passed away due to complications after a bicycle accident on September 8, 2018. He was born October 23, 1964 in American Fork, Utah to Max Kenneth Houtz and Melba Carter Houtz. A proud Veteran, he served in the United States Army for 7 years having served in Iraq and Germany.

Brent graduated from Pleasant Grove High, studied Auto Body at UVU, and Graphic design at Provo College. He married his best friend Alecia Maquel Houtz-Card on July 11, 1986 in the Manti temple. Widowed on January 8, 2016 after her untimely passing.

His interests were in sports like hockey, concerts, jeeps, outdoors, animals, cooking, graphic design and electronics, especially computers. There wasn’t a time you wouldn’t find him on his laptop with a race or game on the television. As we all know him being the handy person he was, you could always ask him for help and he would be there.

He was always busy with things to do around the house but would take on any help needed from his family or friends. He was also connected with friends of his sister Marilyn after her service in 2009 with the Philippines for the LDS church. Once in a while donating money to help with families with poor living conditions to help renovate houses like putting in better windows and doors.

These are just a couple things in his life showing how selfless of a person he was. Brent was a supportive father who deeply cared for his two daughters Chalet and Maquel, who he is survived by. He is also survived by his mother Melba Carter Houtz, his sister Shirlene Thomas, and brother Kevin Houtz.

He will reunite with his father Max Houtz, and his brother Ronald Houtz, sister Marilyn Houtz-Adams, and his wife Alecia Maquel Houtz. Family and friends may attend a memorial service Friday, September, 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
