Vivian “LaRae” Jacobson Nielson, 81, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband Bud by her side on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Mom was born July 25, 1938 to Don and Vivian Jacobson in Magna, Utah. She married her sweetheart Virgil “Bud” Nielson October 9, 1955.

Their marriage was solemnized for time and all eternity in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple on April 14, 2015. LaRae grew up in Vineyard and attended Lincoln High School in Orem.

LaRae raised her seven children in Pleasant Grove and worked for many years at Taylor Drug in American Fork. Mom’s baking of homemade bread, divinity and Christmas goodies were her specialty. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, cross-stitch, and made the most beautiful quilts.

She enjoyed her weekly visits to Robert’s salon for a little pampering and never turned down a chance to read a good novel. LaRae loved camping, fishing and spending time in Fruitland with family and friends. She is survived by her husband Bud of Pleasant Grove; seven children: Debbie Shepherd, Price; Kyle (Kari) Nielson, American Fork; Sandy (Ron) Holman, Kamas; Layle Nielson, Pleasant Grove; James (Samantha) Nielson, American Fork; Weldon (Deborah) Neilson, Fruitland and Russell Nielson, Pleasant Grove; 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jay (Sally) Jacobson, John Jacobson, Gary (Janice) Jacobson and David (Celia) Jacobson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father and mother-in-law, Harold and Elsie Nielson; sister, Peggy Lee Carter and her grandson, Joshua Ben Shepherd. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Timpanogos Stake Center, 795 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to funeral services.

Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. olpinmortuary.com.
