Walter Allen Ewell, 89, of American Fork passed away peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2018. Walt was born February 23, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elsworth Rulon and Martha Ewell. He married Betty NaDean Rosenlof on December 28, 1948 in Payson.

Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Walt grew up in Salt Lake and attended schools there. He joined the U S Navy during final months of WWII and served in the Pacific Theater.

Upon his return, Walt worked on the construction of Geneva Steel his 35 years career was spent in the blast furnace. In Walt’s spare time, he helped raise his six children and care for 15 acres of the family farm in Lindon. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in both the Provo and Mt.

Timpanogos Temples as an Ordinance Worker. Walt loved to hunt and fish and spend time with family and friends camping in the outdoors. He had a talent for playing his harmonica much to the delight of everyone.

He was an amazing father, wonderful grandfather, and great grandfather and loved his family fiercely. He is survived by his six children: Betty Lee (Kim) Laudie; Linda Rae (Scott) Smith, Julie Gay Stone, Joel Allen (Mary) Ewell, Mark Daniel (Judi) Ewell and Leslie Ann (John) Counsell; 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and sister, Rhea. He was preceded death by his wife, Betty and infant daughter, Annette; great granddaughter, Makenna; parents, Elsworth and Martha and six siblings: Gordon, Howard, Rulon, Jack, Elnora and Wanda.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the American Fork 24th Ward Chapel, 975 North 60 East, American Fork. Family and friends may attend a viewing Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Bluffdale City Cemetery.
