John Dean Adams , December 03, 1930 — October 19, 2018

John “Dean” Adams, 87, of Lindon passed away Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born December 3, 1930 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Silas Elmer and Martha “Venetta” Boulter Adams. He grew up in Pleasant Grove and moved to Highland when he was 13 where he met his best friend and sweetheart Ila Strasburg.

After graduating from American Fork High School, they were married May 9, 1950 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They started their life together in American Fork then moved to Pleasant Grove, eventually purchasing a home and dairy farm in Lindon where they raised their family of ten children and several foster children. They later moved the family and farm to Delta, Utah for a few years before returning to Lindon.

He was a member of the Utah National Guard, retired from Geneva Steel and later from Select Sires. He also served on the Lindon City Council. Dean’s greatest love was his family, friends and neighbors.

He also had a great love for his cows, rodeos, riding horses and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Riding Club for many years where he made lifelong friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. He also served with his sweetheart at the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

Dean is survived by his children: Joel (Cheryl), Randy (Mary K), Lorie (Bob), Russ (Dawanna), Annette, Jackie, Jeanne (Ed), Karen, Phil (Marjie) and LeAnn; 34 Grandchildren and 70 Great Grandchildren; his brother Elvis (Paulene) Adams and sister VaNetta (Burt) Brooks. He is preceded in death by his wife Ila, parents and five siblings. Family and friends may attend an evening viewing Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lindon Sixth Ward Chapel, 56 East 600 North, Lindon with a viewing from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
