Carl “Bros” Guinn, age 85, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 11, 2019 from the Hillview Health Center of Elizabethton. Carl was born in Butler, Tennessee to the late George W. Guinn and Roxie Mae Bunton Guinn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean Guinn; a daughter, Tammy Sheree Handy; two brothers, Bob Guinn and Dean Guinn; and two sisters, Pauline Keller and Peggy Whitehead.

Carl retired as an auto mechanic, having been self-employed and had worked for Esso. He was a United States Army veteran, having proudly served his country during the Korean War. Carl was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Carson, listening to country music and working on cars.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Betty Widner Guinn, of the home; four sons, Ricky Guinn, Carl Widner, Danny Widner and Tommy Widner, all of Elizabethton; four daughters, Teresa Guinn and Judy Tolley, both of Elizabethton and Linda Arnold and Cathy Whitehead, both of Johnson City; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Claude “Pet” Guinn and wife Joann, of Elizabethton and Dennis “Black” Guinn, also of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Mary Gouge and Sue Stafford, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A service to celebrate and honor the life of Carl “Bros” Guinn will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Brett Jones, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday or at the residence at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Guinn, Johnny Proffitt, Ronnie Keller, Larry Price, II, Danny Henegar and Bobby Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Holloway, the staff of Hillview Health Center, his “little angel” –Kami Deel-Meade (NP), Brandy Presley and Sherry Bowling. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 9:15 AM on Friday, to go in procession.
