Loretta Peters Colbaugh, age 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her residence. Loretta was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Brooks Clyde Peters and Iona Lee Cable Peters. Loretta was an active pastor’s wife of 49 years, her most precious moments were the birth of her son, her grandson and being a loving and devoted pastor’s wife.
She had worked at Great Lakes Research as an executive assistant and retired from the Social Security Administration. Loretta was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Unaka High School and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, working in her flowers and bird watching.
Most of all she loved cooking lunches for her family on Sundays and loved assisting with her church activities. Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her husband of 55 years, Ray Colbaugh, of the home; her son, Kevin Brooks Colbaugh; her grandson, Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh and wife Lynae; a sister, Sue Turbyfill and husband Wayne; her nieces, Shirlene Turbyfill and Kayla Turbyfill; a step granddaughter, Kalyee Carrier; a step grandson, Tyler Carrier and wife Renya; and a nephew, David Turbyfill.
A service to celebrate the life of Loretta Peters Colbaugh will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton with Rev. Nicholas Colbaugh (grandson) and her son, Kevin Colbaugh, officiating. Music will be under the direction of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Quartet.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Sunday. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 4, 2019 in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be the deacons of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:30 AM on Monday, to go in procession. The family would like to especially thank everyone at New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and their community. Also, a special thanks to Valerie Deaton and April Williams.
