Virginia Nance Crawford “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her”.

Proverbs 31:10 and 31:28 Virginia Nance Crawford of Elizabethton went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born in Newland, North Carolina to her parents, Earl and Vondola Nance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Virginia loved the Lord with all her heart and had read her Bible through over thirty times. She never missed out on an opportunity to talk to someone about Jesus and she had a kind word for everyone she met. She had the most meek and gentle spirt and when asked how she was doing her answer was always, “I’m blessed”.

She believed you could never out give God and one of her favorite scriptures was Luke 6:38 : “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you”.

She always had a burden to pray and was ready to go to a prayer meeting at a moment’s notice. Just days before she went to Heaven, she was quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”. She will be missed by so many, but we are thankful that she is no longer in pain and can finally run the streets of Heaven with two good legs!

She leaves such a godly legacy and so many wonderful memories that we will treasure for a lifetime. Survivors include her husband, Bill Crawford; her daughters, Kelly Shook (Dale), Kim Crawford and Jan Hinshaw (Doug); grandchildren, Adam Slagle, Stefani Paige, Leslie Pickens, Emilee Whitehead, Jordan Hinshaw, Joseph Smithdeal and Hannah Hinshaw; great grandchildren, Hayden Pickens, Hadley Georgiou, Townes Atnip, Eliza Whitehead and Ellie Whitehead; and a sister, Sue Massey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Johnson and Reverend Mark Potter, officiating. Music will be provided by the Valley Forge Praise Choir and Jeff Snyder. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the church chapel, prior to the service on Sunday or at the residence at other times.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with her nephews, Reverend Daniel Nance and Reverend Chris Nance, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Adam Slagle (grandson), Jordan Hinshaw (grandson), Joseph Smithdeal (grandson), Mark Guinn, Danny Hilbert, Jeff Lyons, Ken Rose and Jeff Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Rogers, Keith Range, Allen Goodwin, Granville Taylor, Charlie Trivette, Sam Harrison, David Bass, Curtis Gentry and employees of Crawford Drywall.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
