Randy Monroe Wheelock, 57, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord unexpectedly Monday March 25, 2019. Randy was born to the late Wade Hampton and Vivian Edwards Wheelock in the Fall Branch- Harmony Community. Randy loved his family with all of his heart, he was especially proud of his son Alex and often said his wife Carol was more than he deserved.

By profession Randy was a CPA but for the past thirteen years he had devoted his time and skill to medical research. Randy was the Chief Advisor for research and therapy development. Randy attended Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City for twenty-six years.

He believed it was a gift to serve his church family and community. Randy often said leading by faith was a requirement for support. He was a strong believer and lived life through his faith.

He always found the good in someone and situations. Randy owned several businesses and was respected for his high intelligence. He was self-taught man in both work and hobbies, but he will be remembered by everyone for quick wit and sense of humor.

Randy loved playing pranks on his friends. He was an avid adventurist. He loved to have fun and laugh and enjoyed hunting, Nascar Racing, vintage cars, working in his workshop, UT football, Vanderbilt basketball, the New York Yankees, playing his guitars and ukulele.

In addition to his parents Randy was preceded in death by two brothers Douglas and Herb Wheelock. Those left to cherish Randy’s memory include his loving wife of twenty-nine years Carol Marie Wheelock; son, John Alexander Wheelock; brothers, Danny Wheelock of Lakeland FL, Argil Wheelock (Robin) of Chattanooga TN, and Joe Wheelock (Jane Michaels) of West Palm Beach FL; special sister-in-law Carolyn Wheelock; mother-in-law Mary E. Maupin along with several nieces and nephews. The Wheelock family will gather to greet friends and share memories Friday March 29, 2019 from 5pm-7pm at Grace Fellowship Church 2314 S. Greenwood Dr. Johnson City TN, 37604.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor Randy’s life will follow starting at 7pm with Pastor Matt Murphy officiating. Those serving as honorary pall bearers will be Argil Wheelock, Joe Wheelock, Danny Wheelock, Steve C. Lyons, James Pickering, Matt McGee, Mitch Stanberry, Jim McMackin, John Miller, and Scott Clark. In lieu of flowers the Wheelock family has asked that donations be made in Randy’s memory to Grace Fellowship Church 2314 S. Greenwood Dr. Johnson City TN, 37604, CHM Research Foundation 23 East Brundreth St. Springfield, MA 01109-2110 one of Randy’s many research projects, or to a local Police and Firefighters Associations.
