Carlisle Summers Carter, Sr., of Ridgeville, dearly beloved husband of Anna Margaret Carter, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at their residence with family and friends by his side. He was 82 years old. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, September 20, 2018 at 11 am in Parks Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow in Cummings Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening at Parks Funeral Home from 6 – 9 pm. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Cummings Chapel Cemetery, P O Box 351, Ridgeville, SC 29472.

Carlisle was born November 10, 1935 in Ridgeville, SC, son of the late Carlisle Myer Carter and Jannie Mae Kemmerlin Carter. Carlisle and Anna Margaret would have been married 61 years in October. He was a prominent businessman in Dorchester County and a true hard working country gentleman, and expected the same of those around him.

He graduated from Harleyville High School. He was the owner of Carter’s Fast Stops, Carter Amusements, Carter Enterprises and was employed at Westvaco Paper Mill for twenty-four years. He enjoyed traveling, attending NASCAR races, tailgating at Carolina Gamecocks football games and especially spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, family and friends.

He would say “the more the merrier”. Survivors include his loving wife, Anna Margaret Clayton Carter, of Ridgeville; 4 sons, Carlisle Summers Carter, Jr. (Barbara), William Michael Carter (Rebecca), John Wayland Carter (Pamela), Bryan Clayton Carter, all of Ridgeville; 2 daughters, Laverne Carter Smith (Banks) of Charleston, Donna Faye Carter Spayth (Fred) of Summerville; 2 brothers, Lloyd Carter (Brenda), Billy Carter (Ida), all of Ridgeville; 4 sisters, Mary Ann Carter of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, Edith Wiggins of Ridgeville, Peggy Knight (Bud), Millie Lawson, all of Summerville; 17 grandchildren, Joshua, Sidney (Kate), Clayton, Crystal (Matt), Amy (Jordan), LeAnn (Lu), Blaise (Ashley), Chelsea (Rick), D.J. (Brandy), Anna Marie (Jay), Nicole, Will, Carla (Charles), Megan (Donathan), Ashley (Austin), Justin, Trey; 20 great-grandchildren, Lilly, Haley, Rileigh, Waylon, Riley, Rory, Olivia, Natalee, Dakota, Cody, Dallas, Carolina, Storm, Bella, Daisy, Landon, Dexter, Sadie Faye, Addison, and Adrian. Carlisle was predeceased by his parents, Carlisle and Jannie Carter, his daughter, Patricia Ann Carter Taylor, his brothers, Myer (Possum), Robert, Donnie Michael Carter; and his sister, Betty Mae Shieder.
