Carrie Lee McMillan Bennett, age 96, of North Charleston, passed away the evening of September 4, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, Reeves Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was born January 9, 1922 in Lodge, SC, where she grew up.

During World War II she followed her husband to the state of Washington where they lived for two years while he was serving in the Navy. After the war, they moved to North Charleston where they built their own home. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed reading, sewing, and needlework.

She had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Doorway Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel on Friday afternoon, September 7, 2018 at 3 o’clock. Visitation will be at 2 o’clock preceding the funeral service.

Carrie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Smith (Rudd) and her son, Donald Bennett (Carol), both of Summerville; grandchildren, Mark Duncan of Los Angeles, CA, Karen Duncan (Robert), Jennifer Bennett, Dana Garvin (David), and Dawn Raney, all of Summerville; great-grandchildren, Grady Duncan (Kyra) of Moncks Corner, Reeves Duncan of Clemson, Jamison Raney, Aubree Brown, Annalee and Kennedy Garvin, of Summerville; great-great grandchildren, Theodore and Winston Duncan of Moncks Corner. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph Hugh McMillan and Mary Letitia Bishop McMillan of Lodge; two brothers, William McMillan and Heber McMillan, and four sisters, Viola Caldwell, Juanita Ramsay, Zelma Padgett and Lois Fisk, all of Lodge, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Doorway Baptist Church, 7825 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC 29418, Presbyterian Communities Employee Appreciation Fund at The Village, 201 W. 9th North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
