Obituary for Carolyn McLaughlin (Kroto) Carolyn Kroto McLaughlin, 83, of Erie, passed away on Sunday January 20, 2019 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born in Erie on June 26, 1935 a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Zmyslinski Kroto. Carolyn graduated from Villa Maria Academy and went on to graduate from Holy Cross Central School of Nursing in South Bend, Indiana where she earned her degree in nursing.

She originally worked at the VA Medical Center for several years before raising her family and returned to nursing where she worked in various medical offices. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. McLaughlin, Sr.; her daughter, Mary Kathleen McLaughlin; and her sister, Margaret Barr. Survivors include three daughters, Eileen Widomski and her husband, Thomas, of Erie, JoAnn Schopman and her husband, Gerry, of Camp Hill, PA, and Susan McLaughlin Dahlkemper of California; two sons, Leonard J. McLaughlin, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Erie, and Jeremy M. McLaughlin and his wife, Nicole, of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren, Andrew Jr., Abigail, and Joseph Dahlkemper, Katherine Schopman, Matthew and Gabrielle Widomski, Sarah, Emily, Leonard III, Ryan, Joseph, Annalee, Adele, and Jeremy McLaughlin; one brother, Frank Kroto, Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews. , on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m..
