Obituary for Columbus E. “Sarge” Killebrew Columbus E. Killebrew, 77, of Erie, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Walnut Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Sidon, Mississippi, on January 13, 1941, the son of the late Thomas and Winnie Jones Killebrew. Columbus proudly served a lifelong career in the United States Army for 27 years, retiring in 1987.

He was stationed in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, and France. Sarge enjoyed bowling and loved to travel. He was a very gentle, loving, caring person.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Winnie Followell and Frances Cramer; and his brothers, Floyd, Bobby, and Willie Killebrew. Survivors include his wife, Rose M. Orton Killebrew; his children, Lee Killebrew of Vinegrove, KY, Annette Evans (Fred), of Gloucester, VA, David Killebrew (Billie), of Radcliff, KY, Eric Killebrew, of Vinegrove, KY, David E. Smith Jr. (Noy), of North Carolina, Marci-Marie Powers (Matthew), of Waterford; his sister, Irma Jean Holleman (Alton), of Vaiden, Mississippi; his five grandchildren, Rebecca, Elisha, and Curtis Evans, Joseph Wilbanks, and Brittany Killebrew; his great-grandson, Christopher Hart; his four step-grandchildren, Tondalayo Winkler (Tyler Hart), Martin Winkler III, Matthews Powers Jr., and Malachi Powers; and many nieces and nephews.
