Obituary for Catherine J. Ojeda (Burdick) WATERVLIET – Catherine Joyce Marie (Burdick) Ojeda, 53, died peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her loving family at her side. Born in the Bronx, NY on September 3, 1965, she is the daughter of the late Samuel John Burdick and Carmella Dongarra Burdick. She was raised and educated in the Bronx and moved with her family to the Capital District when she was 15.
She was a homemaker and raised her three children. Following her husband Wilfredo’s death in 1993, she returned to work and was a phlebotomist at Albany Medical Center and various health agencies in the Albany area. She later was employed as a medical driver for Capitaland Taxi and Advantage Medical Transportation.
Catherine loved her grandchildren, enjoyed gambling, trips to the Racino and scratch-offs. She was a woman who touched many lives and was loved by many. She was the wife of the late Wildredo Ojeda; beloved mother of Daniel S. Ojeda of Troy, Angelo W. Ojeda (Ursula Chiera) of Watervliet and Storm S. Ojeda (Willie Denson) of Watervliet; adored grandmother of Ahmik Z. Scott and Aliyah S. Denson; dear sister of Maryellen “Star” Burdick of Bronx, Josephine (late Julio) Gonzalez of Watervliet, Sandra Burdick of Yonkers and Samuel J.A. (Virginia) Burdick of Rensselaer.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral service to which everyone is invited will be Tuesday, January 22nd at 6:00 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with calling prior to the service from 5:30-6:00 pm.
Catherine’s ashes will be interred in the spring with her husband and mother in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
