Obituary for Celia Beard Celia Beard, 97 of Evansville, IN was called to be with God after a happy and full life, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at University Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 19, 1921 in Evansville, IN to the late Walter and Ida Pearl Gay. Starting life as number 12 in a family with 13 children.

Celia attended Lodge Grade School and Central High School. She met and later married Elmer Beard who served in the Navy during WW II. Their marriage of 38 years ended with his death in 1980.

Living on her own, Celia had a very active life of work and travel. She had a good career with positions in retail sales with Shoppers’ Fair and The Kiddie Shop where she was a buyer. People who knew her will always remember her as “such a nice lady”.

Even with her declining health, she always showed kindness and gratitude to those caring for her. She is survived by her two children, Sandy Beard Lasher (Dave) of Evansville and Elmer (Skip) Beard Jr. (Jan) of Flower Mound, TX. She is also survived by her three granddaughters, Kellie, Robin, and Audra all of Texas; grandsons, Matthew Lasher of Honolulu, HI and Brett Lasher (Alyssa) of Evansville; four great-granddaughters all of Texas.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Friday, October 12, 2018 at the funeral home with Father Ted Tempel officiating Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society’s “Father Ted’s Emergency Fund”, 809 North Lafayette Ave.
