Charles L. Elrod passed away at the age of 81 in Powder Springs, GA, on February 23, 2019. He was born, January 4, 1938 in Cornelia, GA, to parents Eugene and Jessie Elrod. Charles is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Sandra G. Elrod; his daughter Lynn Elrod Mattox and husband, Steve; son David Elrod and significant other, Jessika Walker; granddaughter Taylor Lynn Mattox; three sisters Bobbi Burruss of Marietta, Martha Penick of Alto, GA, and Mary Barrett of Cornelia, GA.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Jack and Bill Elrod and his sisters Dot Tate and Bettisue Haynes. Charles served 10 years in the Army Reserves in Cornelia, GA, and retired after 40 years from Lockheed Martin in Marietta. He was a faithful member of Post Oak Baptist Church in Powder Springs and loved his fellow church members.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In recent years Charles’ became fond of watching TV with his wife, as well as loving on and talking to their two cats, Kit and Teddy. A visitation will be held Wednesday February 27, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and a celebration of his life will be Thursday February 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory Macland Chapel In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Post Oak Baptist Church, 1465 Bullard Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
