Liberty – Charles “Ray” Holyfield, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 17, 1947 in Alamance County to the late Charlie Howard Holyfield and Virginia Caulder Holyfield and was the husband of 51 years to Doris Suits Holyfield who survives. Ray retired as the owner/operator of C.R. Holyfield Builder and Holyfield Masonry Contractors.

Masonry Association, Gibsonville Jaycees, former officer of the Homebuilders Association, and former board of director’s member of the N.C. Vietnam Memorial. He is a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church and was a former Junior Boys Sunday school teacher at Riverdale Baptist Church. Ray enjoyed going to auctions, he loved the mountains, Sgt in the US Army and member of the battalion Red Big 1 of the Vietnam War.

Survivors other than his wife, Doris S. Holyfield include his daughter, Lois Holyfield Bowden and husband, Jonny; sons, Bobby Ray Holyfield and wife, Mandi, Danny Ray Holyfield and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Hunter Byrd, Dylan Ray Byrd, Connor Ray Holyfield, Hanna Bree Holyfield, Kaleb Ray Holyfield, Peyton Bree Holyfield and Riley Lane Bowden; sisters, Judy Suits, Carolyn Holyfield and Vickie Holyfield; a brother, Larry Paul Holyfield and wife, Pam; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jason Frank with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
