Charlotte E. Siebenrock December 1, 1924 – September 10, 2018 Charlotte “Char” Eloise Siebenrock, 93, entered into the rest of her Lord, Monday, September 10, 2018. She was a resident at Via Elegante and under the care of Valor Hospice. Her “crossing” was peaceful.
She joins her beloved husband, Vincent “Vince” Siebenrock, who preceded her (deceased 2002) into the arms of Jesus Christ. We, her family, rejoice at her being made whole again. Char was born to Elsie and Charles Furnkas (Jr.
) in Redmond, Michigan on December 1, 1924. She had two sisters, Marcella Kanger (deceased) and Beverly Hoerning, of Missouri. The family lived in Detroit, Michigan, and Char grew up to become a good student and learned business and secretarial skills which would later elevate her to positions as an executive secretary in the U.S. Government civil service.
Her career included a position in the Arlington, Virginia area, and later with the Communication Security Logistics Activity (CSLA) directorate under the communications command of the U.S. Army. When CSLA was relocated from Virginia to Fort Huachuca, Arizona in 1967, the Siebenrock family became residents of Sierra Vista, where Vince and Char lived the remainder of their lives. Char would eventually be elevated to the position of executive secretary to the commander of CSLA, a position she held until her retirement at age 70 in 1995.
She married Vince, “boy next door” (actually, across the alley), in 1947. He was indisputably the love of her life– and she of his. In 1995, prior to civil service, Vince’s work with General Electric took him to Anchorage, Alaska for several years.
Char joined him in Anchorage a year later. While in the process of arranging to adopt a baby, since they were childless after eleven years of marriage, they experienced their own miracle: the conception and birth of their only child, Shelley Marie Siebenrock in Anchorage. Char majored in motherhood until Shelley was seven, whereupon she returned to work as an elementary school secretary.
The family relocated to Virginia in 1966 where both Vince and Char entered into their civil service careers. Vince and Char were long-standing parishoners at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, where Char was active in both the Women’s Club and the Columbiettes. Shelley married Michael O. Webb in 1981 and they presented Vince and Char with their six beloved grandchildren: Rebekah Joy, Rachel Marie (married to Joshua Noble), Anna Noel (married to Hector Burgueno), Abigail Ruth, Michaela Elizabeth (married to Dillon Farrior), and Michael Vincent Webb.
Char was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Hector Keane Burgueno, Wesley Cruz Burgueno, and Pemberlie Rose Farrior. Shelley, Michael, the grandchildren, and great grandchildren all survive her, along with her sister Beverly. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of Via Elegante, Valor Hospice, and her physician, Santsaran Patel, M.D., for their compassionate care.
For the many who encouraged and prayed, we can’t thank you enough. Arrangements are being supervised by Hatfield Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Drive,on Friday, September 14, at 9 a.m., with Father Robert Neske officiating.
Committal will follow at 10 a.m., at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail, where she will be laid to rest with husband, Vince. Immediately following these events, there will be a light luncheon provided by the ladies of the parish at St. Andrews in the parish center.
