MADISON/WAUNAKEE – Cherie A. (Hoffman) Rogers-Neupert, age 87, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born on February 23, 1931, the daughter of John T. and Christine A. (Kessenich) Hoffman. On August 31, 1997 she married her soulmate, John Neupert.

She worked 28 years in accounting for Sears, then 12 years for Lands’ End. In her spare time, she spent decades working as a referee for the city of Madison Recreational Department where she was recognized for her outstanding contribution and service to MSCR on September 18, 2001. Cherie played softball, pickleball, basketball, and golf throughout her life.

She played competitive volleyball at a local, national, and international levels. Among her many accomplishments she was a volunteer Scout Leader for 13 years and helped organize the first Dane County Senior Olympic Games where she served as Chair for several years. Additionally, she enjoyed illustrating artwork and travelled extensively visiting her family wherever they moved.

Cherie was fond of hosting large family gatherings at her home providing scrumptious buffets to accompany outdoor fun and inside card games. She avidly participated in Bridge, Euchre and Sheepshead groups and tournaments throughout her life. She also enjoyed coaching and teaching children how to play her favorite games.

Cherie is survived by her husband, John; sister, Genevieve Engel, and brother-in-law, Edward Wronkowicz; daughter, Suzin Rogers; sons Jeff (Debra) Rogers and Eric (Lisa) Rogers; along with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, Jason Ladson and William Bremmer. She is preceded in death by her sons, Greg and Jason; brothers, Howard and Joseph (Geraldine) Hoffman; sisters, Jane Wronkowicz and Mary (Jerome) Kessenich; and brother-in-law, Bill Engel; father of her children, James G. Rogers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at ST.

PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. A visitation will be held from 4PM until 6PM on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison and again from 10AM until time of Mass on Thursday at the church.
