Madison- Virgil R. Herritz, age 96, of Madison, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Artisan Senior Living Center in Middleton, WI. He was born in Sauk County, Village of North Freedom, on April 29, 1922, a son of William and Erma (Klukas) Herritz. On October 26, 1949, he united into marriage to the love of his life, Elaine A. Emery in Hayward, WI.

Virgil worked at Oscar Mayer as an Assembly Linesmen for 32 years, he continued to volunteer and represent Oscar Mayer even into retirement. Virgil loved gardening, John Deere model tractors, classic cars, Ho-Chunking with his friends and his morning coffee at McDonalds. Virgil is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Kevin (Joyce) Herritz; his brother, Roland (Nyla) Herritz; his grandchildren, Stefanie (Jenna) Hulett, Ashley (Garrett) Matthys, Kyle Herritz; his great grandchildren, Krysta Lathrop, Sadie Solie, Hunter Derleth and Elaina Matthys; his great great-grandchildren, Karmma Lathrop and Salem Lathrop; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Monica Herritz, Mary Herritz, Donna Herritz, Sally Herritz, Blanche Herritz, Joanne Lamphear, Bud Emery, Don Kludt and Charles (Yvonne) Kludt.

He is preceded into Heaven by his parents; his in laws, Harvey Emery and Mary Kludt; his brothers, Willard Herritz, Donovan Herritz, Ivan Herritz, Kenny Herritz, Hershel Herritz, LaVern Herritz and Milton Herritz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle (Paul) Myer, Bonita (Robert) Sudfield, Earl (Betty) Emery, Lawrence Lamphear, Barbara Emery and Helen Kludt. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at ST PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2126 N. Sherman Ave. , with the Rev.
