VERONA – Pauline “Paula” Monien, age 69, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her sons, family, and her husband, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Paula was born on January 18, 1949 in Kansas City, MO. She grew up in Kansas and Texas.

Paula spent many years working for the Department of Transportation in various departments, as a CNA at Four Winds Manor in Verona, and also as a bookkeeper at Cleary Building Corporation. The job she excelled at though was as a mother, grandmother, and wife. Paula married the love of her life, Jeff Monien, on October 11, 1980.

Her love of the outdoors started with tent camping and motorcycling with Jeff and over the years progressed into traveling in a motorhome and spending winters in Alabama. She also enjoyed reading, philanthropy an emphasis on supporting veteran’s causes and service dogs. Paula was selfless woman that would treat you like family the moment she met you and she will be greatly missed.

Paula is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jeff; sons, Robert W (Michelle) and Shawn P (Kim); grandchildren, Madeline, Alec, Levi, Ashley (Matthais) Stoecklin, Michael Bravick, Cárraigh, and Lochlann; siblings, Robert Hewitt, LaDonna Trotter, and Charles Trotter. She is further survived by many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Murville; son, Jay Keith; siblings, Thomas Trotter and Mary Trotter.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at GUS’S DINER, 110 Keenan Court, Verona, from 2PM until 5PM In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Paula’s name to the Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities or the Wounded Warriors Project.
