MADISON – Leonard D. Philumalee, age 78, surrounded by loved ones, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the VA Hospital. Skip was born on January 27, 1940 in Madison, WI to David and Mary Philumalee. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1958.

After school he enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1963. Skip married the love of his life, Margaret Mutchler, on December 10, 1966. He worked at Oscar Mayer for 30 years as a mason.

Skip was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast but family was most important to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities with his five sons. Skip is survived by his wife of 52 years, Meg; children, Bill (Kathy) Sullivan, John (Mary) Sullivan, Matt (Marla), Juli, Jim, and Jenny; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and brothers, Tom (Joanne), Maurice, and Robert.

He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Sullivan and granddaughter, Ciara. A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at 11AM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Ave, Madison. A visitation will be held from 9AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Final resting place at Roselawn Memorial Park. A special thanks to all the family and friends who came to support skip and a heartfelt thanks to the staff at UW Hospital and VA Hospice Community Living Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
