Madison-Jamie (Barden) Gulseth, 45, passed away Thursday, May 10th, 2018 at UW Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1973, in Racine, Wisconsin to Jim and Diane (Pond) Barden. On September 28th, 2002, Jamie married the love of her life, Todd James Gulseth at the Wisconsin State Capitol Senate Chambers.

She looked like a fairy princess. It was a sunny, perfect fall day. Jamie is survived by her mother, Diane Barden, Madison, her father, Jim Barden and stepmother Gina (Kinney) Barden, both of Madison, her adoring husband of 15 years, Todd Gulseth, Madison, and her furry four-legged companion, Bogey.

She leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, David & Augusta Barden, Christ & Gladys Pond, and Wilfred & Mary Kinney. Jamie had two furry doggie children, Shadow (Shepherd Mix, deceased) and Bogey (Adorable Mutt Mix).

In fact, Jamie just had Bogey’s DNA ancestry done, and he offers true dog-diversity at its finest. Employed at MARC, Inc. for almost 20 years, Jamie’s last capacity served was as Program Director. She loved her work family and the service they gave in improving cognitively impaired adult’s lives.

She enjoyed baking in her newly remodeled kitchen, was a wonderful cook, and had a quirky habit of reading recipe books in bed at night (when she wasn’t catching up on the news of Hollywood). Jamie’s normally reserved nature could quickly go PG-13 if the Green Bay Packers play or coaching was not meeting her standards. It shocked and surprised the heck outta those of us who bore witness.

She loved getting “snuggey” with Bogey, the abandoned pup they adopted from a rescue facility. Jamie was a lovely, magical, wry-witted and captivating human. Her union with Todd was a love poets write of, something many of us upheld in wonder.

She will be loved and missed until the day we join her. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the funeral home and also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to MARC, Inc., or UW Carbone Cancer Center. Jamie’s family would like to thank the dedicated Doctors, Nurses and Health Care workers at UW Hospital. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.
