Christine Schackmuth December 07, 1961 – January 26, 2019 Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Christine Schackmuth 1961-2019 Christine Schackmuth, 57, of Kenosha went to her Lord on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Crossroads Nursing & Rehabilitation. Christine was born on December 7, 1961 in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of Eugene & Marlene (Kroll) Schackmuth. She graduated from Tremper H.S., attended UW-Stevens Point for two years, and received a horticulture degree from Gateway.

She was diagnosed with a mental health disability in her 20’s and battled society’s discrimination of this illness and showed the ability to take care of her needs and others. She belonged to the Girl Scouts for 12 years and was given a Life Saving award for helping a drowning Girl Scout. Christine was employed as a part time janitor for KUSD and worked at Strobbe’s Flower Cart throughout the years.

Her hobbies included making wreaths, vases, and floral arrangements, jewelry, and greeting cards, and feeding the birds & squirrels. Her talents included playing the recorder at family gatherings and organizations that requested her performance, and anyone who wanted to listen to her play. Chris’ generosity was limitless…she gave people gloves & mittens, backpacks to anyone needing one, dollar bills to homeless people she met, blankets to shelters, canned products to the food shelter, and shared her cigarettes with other smokers.

Survivors include her mother, Marlene Schackmuth of Pleasant Prairie; sister, Ruth M. (Richard) Milstead of FL; her 2 brothers, Paul (Carmen) Schackmuth, Cottage Grove, Minn. ; Adam (Vicki) Schackmuth of Wauwatosa; and her nieces & nephews, Paul, Emily, Anna, and Tyler. Her and her sister, Ruth, are Godparents to their niece, Anna Isabel Schackmuth.

Christine was preceded in death by her father, Eugene. A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at Kenosha Funeral Services from 5-6:00PM, with funeral services to follow at 6:00PM. Burial St. George Cemetery.
